At all times, keep your lanyard, key, & handbook with you. From this point forward, please stay within the boundaries of the ALA Girls State Campus and always walk with a buddy.

7:00am - 7:30am

SET UP WITH YOUR COUNTY COUNSELING TEAM. HAVE ALL LANYARDS, NAME TAGS, KEYS, PENS, AND SIGN-IN SHEETS READY TO GO. COLLECT ADULT LICK UP FORMS FROM DELEGATES AS THEY ARRIVE.

7:00am - 9:45am

Welcome to ALA Girls State!

  • Check In (Lothian Lawn)
    Turn in your forms, receive your city information, and check any medications with the Nurse.
  • Move In (Your Room)
    Place your belongings in your room and make sure your key works!
  • Get Acquainted (City Meeting Area)
    Get to know your city’s delegates and share the legislation you wrote.
  • Make door tags with city. (DO NOT PLACE ANY STICKERS ON DOORS).
  • Register for City Classroom.

APPOINT ACTING MAYOR, CLERK AND TREASURER BEFORE CITY MEETING #1.
VERIFY POSSESSION OF HANDBOOK, COUNSELOR TO PROVIDE STICKER LISTING
CITY, PARTY, CITY CLASSROOM CODE, & G$ LOGIN/PASSWORD, AND HONOR BUTTON.

10:00am - 10:30am

City Meet and Greet (City Meeting Area)
Meet with your city and get to know each other - you’ll need your ALA California Girls State Handbooks.
NOTIFY HQ OF CURRENT HEADCOUNT.

10:30am - 11:10am

City Meeting #1 (City Meeting Area)
Review schedule, review elected vs appointed positions, and register to vote.
COUNSELORS & LIAISONS SIT WITH YOUR CITY. PLEASE WRANGLE YOUR CITY SO YOU CAN BE ON TIME FOR GENERAL ASSEMBLY #1 SO WE CAN STAY ON SCHEDULE.

11:20am - 12:15pm

Take what you’d like, but eat what you take. We aim for zero food waste at ALA Girls State.

General Assembly #1 (Aberdeen-Inverness)
Orientation

1:20pm - 2:35pm

City Meeting #2 (City Meeting Area)

  • Review elected and appointed positions.
  • Introduce filing paperwork and practice the process to fill out.
  • Circulate and file for city positions, Board of Education member, and Board of Supervisors member.
  • Acting Treasurer collects filing fees for candidates running for city and county positions.

2:40pm - 3:45pm

Open Recreation

  • Music - Band/Choir (Lothian Piano Room/Courtyard).
  • ALA Girls State Store open (Lothian G105).
  • Public Speaking Forum (Foxhole).
  • Bar Exam (via city classroom).
  • Delegates with ROTC experience interested in participating in patriotic activities during the session, meet in ALA Girls State Headquarters (Lothian G206).

3:50pm - 5:25pm

City Meeting #3 (City Meeting Area)
City candidate speeches, voting for city offices, city officials swearing-in, begin appointing city roles, elect county roles for Board of Supervisors Member/Board of Education Member, circulate and file for Senate/Assembly primary, Treasurer collects filing fees for candidates running, begin city business (prioritizing selection of Party Leader candidate, Platform & Campaign Committee members, City Manager, City Editor, City Judge and Town Crier).

5:30pm - 6:25pm

Dinner (Glasgow)
Sit with your city

6:35pm - 8:35pm

General Assembly #2 (Aberdeen-Inverness)

  • Opening Ceremony
  • Guest Speaker
  • Blue Star Banner Introduction
  • Military Child Recognition Presentation
  • Girls State Delegate Swearing-In
  • Introduction of ALA California Girls State Staff
  • City Clerk - mail pickup in Headquarters on the way to back your City with a buddy

8:50pm - 9:20pm

City Meeting #4 (City Meeting Area)

  • Voting for Senate/Assembly Primary
  • Continue City Business
REMIND FED AND NATIONAL PARTY LEADER CANDIDATES FROM YOUR CITY THEY NEED TO HAVE SPEECHES READY FOR THE MORNING: ONE TO GIVE AT COUNTY MEETING #1 AND POTENTIALLY AT PARTY MEETING #1 (IF THEY ADVANCE).

9:25pm - 9:40pm

City Debrief (City Meeting Area)
This is a time to come together, build connections, and wind down from the day.
FOCUS ON ALA GIRLS STATE AND THE WEEK AHEAD - E.G., NAME GAME, LEGISLATION, HONOR BUTTONS, REFLECTION ON THE DAY.
REMIND DELEGATES THAT PICTURES ARE TOMORROW - WEAR WHITE SHIRT.

Close your blinds & lock your door. Hang your lanyard/key on the back of the door.
